Ms. Christina

Ms. Christina Miller, Founder and Preschool Director

My name is Christina Miller and I am the Founder and Preschool Director of A Great Start Preschool.  My husband and I live in Centerville.  I have two children, Liz who is a 2013 graduate of Centerville High School, and Kyle who is a Sophomore at The Ohio State University.  I have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor's degree in Human Services Administration, and a Master's of Education Degree in Educational Leadership. I also hold a State of Ohio Teaching License in Pre-Kindergarten Education, and have over 20 years experience working with children. Throughout my educational career, I have become dedicated to educating the community about the long-term benefits of participation in a quality preschool program prior to entering kindergarten. Children are our future...if we teach them well, they will lead the way. 


Ms. Karin

Ms. Karin, Teacher's Aide

Ms. Karin has been with A Great Start Preschool since we opened our doors in 2004, first as a Preschool Parent, and in 2013 she became an employee! Karin has served as both a Substitute Teacher and a Teacher's Aide at AGSP.  She has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration and Foreign Languages.  In addition to seeing her around the halls at AGSP, you might recognize her as an active sub in Kettering and Centerville schools, or on the sidelines at her 3 kids sporting events.  


Ms. Rebecca

Ms. Rebecca, Little Learners Teacher

Room 107: Monday and Wednesday, AM & PM

Please welcome Ms. Rebecca to A Great Start Preschool!  Rebecca comes to us with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Music, and she has over 20 years experience working with preschoolers.  She is an active volunteer in her Church, and also works as an Aide at the Dayton Metro Library in Huber Heights.  Rebecca and her husband live in Huber Heights and enjoy camping with their children and grandchildren. Rebecca is looking forward to getting to know our staff and families this school year!

I have had the pleasure of working with Beth since 1998, and she has been with AGSP since we opened in 2004. Beth has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a degree in Early Childhood Education. She has over 35 years experience working with all ages of children, and is excited to continue "Team Teaching" our Kindergarten program with Ms. Sharon again this year, in addition to our KinderStart program. 


Ms. Sharon

Ms. Sharon, Private Kindergarten Teacher

Room 106: Monday, Wednesday, Friday PM

Ms. Sharon has been with AGSP since 2006. She has been involved in the Centerville Academic Volunteer and Literature Circle Programs.  Sharon is a certified Orton -Gillingham tutor from an IMSLEC (International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council) accredited program, and tutors dyslexic children at the Children's Dyslexia Center, Valley of Dayton. Sharon has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and has over 20 years experience working with preschoolers as well as teaching kindergarten. In her free time, she enjoys dining out, especially Italian, and going to the movies with her family. 


Ms. Krista

Krista is excited to be back for her third year as a Little Learners teacher at AGSP.  She is a graduate of Wright State University and a member of the Beavercreek Board of Education.  She actively volunteers as a PTO volunteer for her children's schools, Shoes4theShoeless, and in the Children's Ministry at her church, First Baptist Kettering.  Krista lives in Beavercreek with her husband and two children, Hannah (7th Grade) and Ryan (4th grade).  Her kids play basketball and they are big fans of the UK Wildcats!  Krista is looking forward to another great year with our Little Learners!


Ms. Chris

Ms. Chris, Preschool Plus Teacher

This is Ms. Chris's third year at AGSP!  Chris has a degree in Early Childhood Education, and first began her preschool teaching career in 1989. After taking some time off to be at home with her 2 children, Chris is eager and excited to be teaching again!   Chris and her family live in Centerville.  


Ms. Sally

Ms. Sally, Preschool Plus Teacher

Ms. Sally joined the team at A Great Start Preschool in 2016! Sally spent 13 years working at another local preschool, and is looking forward to her second school year with AGSP.  Sally studied at Wright State University, and has over 45 State of Ohio Inservice Training Hours.  She  and her husband live in Bellbrook where they grew up and have enjoyed raising their 3 children.  Sally loves cooking and spending her free time with friends and family.


Ms. Tracey

Ms. Tracey is very excited to return for her third year teaching at AGSP.  She has been working in preschools since 2008 and her youngest of 3 sons is an AGSP graduate.   Tracey attended Sinclair and Wright State majoring in Elementary Education. Tracey loves working with children, and is excited to be teaching in our Smart Start program again this year!


Ms. Cindy

Ms. Cindy began teaching Preschool in 1991, and has a passion for Lesson Planning and Curriculum.  This is Cindy's fifth year at AGSP.  Cindy majored in Early Childhood Education at Saddleback College in California, and has earned a Certificate of In-Service Training by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Bureau of Child Care and Development.  Cindy and her family live in Beavercreek.


Ms. Katie

Ms. Katie, KinderStart Teacher & Teacher's Aide

This is Ms. Katie's third year as part of the AGSP family.  In 2015, she joined our family as a preschool parent.  Last school year, we welcomed her to our team as a dependable substitute.  She was very eager to accept a permanent role this school year, in our KinderStart program on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and as our Teacher's Aide on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Katie has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Human and Social Development.  She lives in Centerville with her husband and 2 children.  Katie enjoys vacationing with her family in the Dominican Republic. 

 


Ms. Peggy

Ms. Peggy, Preschool Plus Teacher

Room 127: Monday, Wednesday, Friday AM & PM  

Ms. Peggy began her employment with AGSP as a substitute teacher in 2008, and soon moved into a permanent teaching role as a Smart Start and Preschool Plus teacher. Peggy has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, and has been teaching for almost 30 years. She also has experience as an Assistant Director and Director. In her free time, she enjoys walking, reading, shopping, and travelling.


Ms. Erica

Ms. Erica, Smart Start Teacher

Room 127: Tuesday, Thursday AM & PM

Ms. Erica has been working for AGSP since January 2007, first as a substitute, and then as a Teacher in our Smart Start Program. She studied Education at The University of Toledo, and she is an active volunteer in the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools.  After being on maternity leave for two years, Erica returned back to the classroom for the 15-16 school year.  Erica and her husband live in Bellbrook with their 3 children.

 


Ms. Amy

Ms. Amy, KinderStart Teacher

Room 103: Tuesday, Thursday PM

Ms. Amy has been employed at AGSP since 2008. After taking a couple of years off to care for her 6 children, she returned last school year to teach one of our KinderStart classes, and is excited for another great school year!  Amy has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education.


Substitute Teaching Staff

 

From time to time, our teachers may need a session off. To continue to provide your children with quality education, we have a qualified team of substitutes to ensure a routine day. Sometimes our permanent staff members who work on an alternate schedule may substitute as well. 

Ms. Michelle has been subbing for AGSP since 2013.  She has a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, and more than 12 years teaching experience.  Michelle is the proud mother of 3 girls.  

Ms. Carrie has been a familiar face at AGSP for more than 8 years, first as a parent and then as a substitute.  She has a Master's degree in Education, and a Bachelor's in Social Work. Each of her 4 children are graduates of A Great Start Preschool.  

Ms. Christine D. began subbing for AGSP in 2016.  She has an Associates of Arts degree and also studied education in college. Christine loves the flexibility of subbing, which allows her time with her son, baking, and working as a Trip Director for a local business.   

Ms. Melissa C. has worked at AGSP since 2007 as a Preschool Plus and Smart Start Teacher.  Starting the 15-16 school year, Melissa moved into a Substitute role so that she could pursue a career in Real Estate.  Melissa has over 20 years experience working with children through Church groups, as a Reading Tutor, Center Helper at a local elementary school, as a Nursery worker, and teaching in a Parent's Morning Out Program. Melissa has a Bachelor's degree in Business, and has earned a Certificate of In-Service Training by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Bureau of Child Care and Development.

Ms. Pam, Little Learners Teacher from 2004-2015.  With love laughter and lots of hugs, Ms Pam gave us 'a great start' and now is looking down from above. In remembrance of one of our founding teachers.
